Looking at the line as it is now, is a very different picture to as it was years ago.

Garnant junction has gone, along with the branch line to Brynamman, which lost both the GW services and the LMS services which used the station across the road. Ammanford station is now an overgrown platform, and Glanamman now sports trees and shrubs where passengers once stood.

Gwaun-cae-Gurwen is now a rusty marshalling yard, it's station, un-used since being built in 1911 has made way for a house, all that remains is a single platform, and the remains of the track bed. It's next door neighbour, Cwmgorse is a burnt out shell.

The colliery at Abernant has long gone, together with the track that once led to it. Some pieces remain between G-C-G and Abernant but most of it has been lifted by one part or another.

The remaining line from Pantyffynnon to G-C-G supported coal traffic until recently so is mostly intact .
